I am surprised you are even arguing this.
First of all none of those players are on this team so they are irrelevent. It is obvious Rose places value in offense over Defense. The players you listed don't play for BYU right now so I am not sure why you are bringing them up. The focus of defense has to be in every recruiting class in order for your team to be consistently good at defense. Our most recent recruiting classes of guys on missions has a decent crop of good defensive players but Rose dropped the ball in recruiting 4-5 years ago with consistent classes to get the defenders we need on this team plain and simple. His recruiting of JC players is abysmal.

I'm pro Dave Rose overall, but his teams are not well coached on the defensive end of the floor, and our current players don't play very good defense and haven't for the last 3 years.

Worthington, Neilson and Kaufusi aren't disappointments. They are over-achievers. They were not recruited hardly at all out of high school, and in Kaufusi's case he was a football player. So filling the roster with a bunch of scrubs is a problem especially when you have guys that wanted BYU in the Bachynski bros and the dude at Utah State. They would have been 10x the players we currently have.

So if it isn't a lack of defensive emphasis then it is complete incompetence in recruiting. But the style of basketball BYU plays is definitely geared toward being an offensive minded team.

Players talk about wanting to play for BYU because they can shoot as much as they want -- they never mention anything about defense. Rose has built a culture of offense only.
