Most of the $$ making up Apple's market cap, Apple never saw
And by most, I mean virtually all. Apple's IPO was a long time ago and it hasn't done a secondary offering in a very long time.
The cash benefits of Apple's increasing market cap were (by and large) not given to Apple and used to grow the business. They were the result of Apple's investors being enabled to sell their shares for more money because of the wild success of its business.
