I went to, Dan Reynolds said this is the album he's always wanted to make but hasn't until now. They're trying to push thier boundaries and grow rather than just make the same old type of music they've made before. He writes what it is in him to write and says it's the most honest album they've done.
Maybe you don't like it and it's not your flavor, and that's fine we all have different tastes, but that doesn't mean it isn't good. All it means is you just don't like it. There's plenty of great songs that I just don't like but I wouldn't call them "not good".
The album and songs are well done and i believe is the exact kind of music they want to make instead of trying to make it "popular". Either way, it's already #1 on iTunes.
