A neighbor talked my wife's grandfather (Behind Wheeler Farm) into letting him drive across a corner of his lot so that he could get to a different road out of the neighborhood. He said he wanted to go that way, even though he had a driveway by his house that went out another way.
After a period of time he caused trouble, and when Grandpa died he got the land by some sort of adverse possession or established use principle (despite the fact that he had a huge lot and an existing driveway that went out to the other road (in other words, no real reason he "needed the new drive or access on the other side of a very large lot, almost two or three lots worth). I think he eventually split the lot and had access right next to Grandpa's old house for the new one.
These types of things, when they are pre-existing and have some sort of arrangement, can be a real pain.
