For the CB docs onboard
I've started to notice some irritation that's developed into pain near what feels like the tip of my tailbone. Not to be too delicate about it, but it's close to the top of where stuff starts splitting, right in the center. There are no sores/abrasions on the surface of the skin, but the skin in the area is red and irritated. Basically, when I put pressure on it, it feels like something is poking from the inside, not far from the surface. I realize, though, that my brain may very well be playing tricks on me as to where the pain originates (as far as depth inside the tissues), I'm just trying to explain as accurately as I can think to what my symptoms are.
I know someone who had an abscess there that got infected, and after months of Epsom salt soaks and it continuing to get infected and oozing pus and all-round disgusting, he finally had it operated on to fix it, however, it kind of sounds like my symptoms are different (and, again, nothing on the surface, I'm just being slightly hypochondriactical about fearing it might be the same thing and being scared that a cyst or something is festering in there, and the infection will eventually eat its way to the surface ala Aliens or something).
The last thing that is making me worry, which I rarely do about anything medical (anything that feels wrong has always just gone away in a day or two for me), is that I discovered that there is a mole no more than an inch "south" of the most irritated point. I just have no way of knowing if it's a recent development, since I've never had the need to examine myself there before. The irony of getting a melanoma there of all places isn't lost on me, however, considering the expression IS, "where the sun don't shine." When I press directly on the mole, it isn't painful (like the spot an inch away is), but I know the area has bled a little bit onto tissues I used to wipe the irritated spot in the past week, so it's possible the mole is what was doing the bleeding (didn't look like it was today when I saw that it was there, though).

I'm planning on getting it checked out anyway, I was just wondering if you MD types may have an idea what I'm in for?

Thanks for the help.
