It sounds like that's what the guy I know had, however (because I can't bring myself to use the other conjunction in this case ), I don't have anything on the surface of the skin. No boil/welt/ingrown hair/raised area, just redness that looks more rash-like than wound-like.

Do such cysts typically not show at all externally in early stages?
