Every fiction movie/novel out there has some kind of character that is destined to be the chosen one that's supposed to save everyone. It's a very common theme, so I would think most would not assume he's being religious about it. But if he was one, I guess I don't have a problem with it. If these recruits have a problem with religion, they wouldn't be considering BYU in the first place.
