I signed up for a class he taught (before I knew who he was or what he was about - didn't even occur to me he could be LDS). I disagreed with him the first day of class and he call my opinion "ignorant white sh**". I stopped in to see Val Peterson after class ended, two weeks later the class had an interim prof teaching it and Smith was at Wichita State the next semester.
