There is so much more to the game of basketball and it's ridiculous to ignore it. People are just too scared that they're smearing these beloved names. There's nothing wrong with saying it how it is.
You mention taking away Tyler's shooting... Well, take away Tyler's shooting and you don't have a ton left. Does that not say something? Since when does the best overall player come down to one little aspect of the game.
The comments above explain it. More in the bag, better at everything but shooting, etc., however you want to put it. Haws is a shooter, period. And a great one. Nobody is taking anything away from that. You're absolutely right that it is incredible how he can SHOOT. But the best player on the team can not only find ways to score, but also compete in every other aspect at a high level. Defense, rebounding, getting other players involved, etc.
No one thing makes you the best player. One thing makes you the best rebounder. Makes you the best passer... Makes you the best shooter. If you don't offer anything else at an above average rate, but someone else can, you're probably not the best overall player.
