but I just don't think you can throw a one year starter in HS into competing well at the FBS level. He will take some time to develop. Detmer, on the other hand, is probably a better player as a freshman than Hoge based on years of experience and coaching prior to BYU. I don't think Detmer is the long-term answer, but he might be a better stop gap than Hoge if Mangum isn't ready this season.
