"good fer you" gains and didn't affect BYU. Now, Utah's gains make it harder for BYU. The opposite is also true to some extent, but now Utah has a safety net that BYU no longer has (well, never had). Until that fateful day that the Pac gambled on strong-arming the Texas State Legislature by inviting Colorado, and lost badly, BYU WAS Utah's safety net, along with every other sorry leeching-yet-ungrateful MWC school.
