Here's my take (I did business and lots of close friends did accounting)
I did business but had many friends who did accounting. If you are looking to work in accounting right off the bat (there will always be job opportunities), then accounting is fine. That said, if you go into public accounting, of all the people I know that went into it, none of them are there anymore because they hated it, which is not uncommon. Majoring in business is a great way to go (I did finance) but you will have to do more work to push your career forward and be more proactive with recruiting and what you want to focus on. There are plenty of openings in accounting, so if you are simply looking for a skill that you can plug into in a lot of areas that will provide stability, accounting is a good choice. You can also translate accounting into a finance job (investment banking, investment management, etc) though you'll have to be the one to direct that, and you can do that just as well with a degree in finance/business.

Overall, it comes down to your interests. If you just want to focus on accounting, that's fine. IF you want a broader education with potential to hone in on an area of emphasis (marketing, finance, HR, etc). then business is better and I think would be a better choice.
