I agree with you. The '70s were a great mix of story/dialogue with modern film
techniques. Many of today's movies lack great dialogue or originality even though they are generally more visually appealing. The other problem with the 2000s and today is that there is a lot of garbage because movies continue to push the envelope of acceptable content or going for "shock factor." Of course, some people call that good film-making.
