When I was a teenager I worked at Dollar Tree. I told my manager I was going on a summer family trip for like 2 or 3 weeks (visit grandparents, EFY, etc) and asked if that was OK. Since I was just part-time and they only scheduled me like 10 hours a week anyway I figured it wouldn't be a big deal. She said it was fine.

So I come back after the break and each day I come in to see what my scheduled hours are and my name never comes up on there again. I talked to a coworker and she said the manager was pissed that I had left for so long. This was despite the fact that I told her exactly what I was going to do and got her OK.

I figure, "OK I guess I'm fired" and never come back. (I really didn't like the manager and she wasn't very nice at all so I didn't bother actually talking to her about this after that) Fast forward a year and I get a speeding ticket and need to make some money, so I decide to go to another Dollar Tree in town and apply because I know one of the shift managers at that one and she wanted me on her team. So they go to hire me but they can't because that other Dollar Tree still had me on payroll more than a year after the last time I had worked there.
