That's not necessarily true. My 1.5 yo likes to open the door to the garage

when she hears the garage door opening when I come home from work. Often, she'll even step out into the garage. If I backed into the garage, I'm not sure I wouldn't have hit her a few times. Kids that small just need to be supervised near roadways. They just don't know yet how dangerous cars are.
