Scheduling as an indy seemed theoretically easy when the decision was first made
...but Holmoe has learned just how hard it really is to schedule as an independent. Fortunately, ESPN has greased BYU's scheduling wheels and continues to be our matchmaker. I'd even say that ESPN's scheduling assistance has made independence realistic (as opposed to making it merely possible, which you probably would agree was/is BYUtv's role).

If ESPN weren't greasing BYU's scheduling wheels, then independence in the post-BCS era would probably be too difficult for Holmoe (despite his expertise and connections), and the allure of eight pre-scheduled league games, a potential title game, and a decent bowl line-up would bolster the scheduling argument for rejoining the MWC. But I don't foresee ESPN backing out anytime soon. I instead predict a re-upping with BYU in three/four years, and for more money.
