Doing this helps your muscles recover better and grow stronger. Many argue that it's important to do this as quickly as possible, when your muscles are most receptive to carbs, so the idea is to eat carbs that your body will digest very quickly. So sugar (as opposed to oatmeal) may not actually be a bad idea. Maybe a banana or some cantaloupe or honeydew and a pint of chocolate milk.
