Quincy has proven skills but without Pope that staff is unbalanced with detached souls, however, competent. Some players prefer a coach with more emotional depth. LaComb is the one who is quite good at connecting but Pope was superb.
Like with all big decisions we all make, the Jacksons will be moved by many factors, some known, some unknown, some will be shared after the fact, some will be discussed only privately.
In the end, i expect in the media we will hear that program quality, both academic and basketball and perhaps conference quality as the basis for his decision. In reality the dominant variables will have more to do with the quality of relationships, as it almost always does. Jackson seems destined for greatness and will likely go where he finds high level mentors of great spiritual depth, whether LDS or not.
the decision to hire Quincy may turn out well but Rose won't count on any package deal.
imo fwiw
