I think some of you are missing the point. The waitress sounded pretty rude to
me. He said that when he said there was something in his salad and pointed to the fly, she responded, what a piece of lettuce? And then later when he said he lost his appetite, she just stared blankly and had to have the dots connected for her. I'm sorry, but that is rude and bad customer service. And whether this poster is overreacting or not to the actual fly, I would never talk to a customer that way. It doesn't sound to me like she ever really apologized. He wasn't asking for sackcloth and ashes, but she could have easily defused this by just smiling and saying "yeah, I'm sorry, I completely understand. Can I get you something else?" This is customer service 101.
