I've never heard it termed that way. Usually there's two paths of computer science: software engineering and network administration/security. I'm just wrapping up software engineering at weber state myself. I've been told by my advisor software engineers average about 70k out of college, whereas network admins closer to 50. Well seasoned of each add another 25-30k.

I've been fortunate to have a nice software engineering job before finishing college so I can't say direct out of college what I experience either way but that's what I'm told and I agree from what I've seen.
