Tons of great reasons to be on Facebook but I will list two
I actually love following my friends through the years and seeing pictures of them and their families and seeing what they are up. Considering that I have moved 6 times in 15 years, I would lose touch with a lot of people if not for FB. I just don't have the time or energy to keep up with all these people via email or phone. I have no idea why a "grown man" wouldn't enjoy this.

Second, I have been involved in a couple of significant natural disasters where phone lines and power were sporadically knocked out. I saw firsthand how Facebook connected family members, workers, communities, etc. If you just got service for 5 seconds, you suddenly had access to everyone on there. I saw military bases completely change their stance on Facebook based on it's capabilities during these times. There is no other service where people are so readily connected. Those who did not have Facebook at that time caused a lot of confusion.

Now, don't get me wrong. 90% of Facebook I couldn't care less about. But that's the same as Twitter, and I love Twitter. I just browse through rapidly and identify things that interest me.
