Would ESPN prefer us in the PAC, B12, or independent?

They're motivated by the bottom line. If they can get P5 level games at a discount because we're independent wouldn't they prefer us as an independent? In the B12 or PAC we wouldn't be on ESPN very often.

No, because our deal w/ ESPN has an out clause that if we get in a conference

We say this now but we got more than we deserved from ESPN 3 to 4 years ago.
