The NCAA offers insurance policies worth millions to athletes that choose to return to school. Career-ending injury = HUGE payout from NCAA over an extended period of time, supposedly equivalent to a rookie contract.

I didn't know much about this, but was educated by someone who would know when discussing Poeltl returning this year.
