Buying a combo setup usually leaves you with a reel that lacks quality.
I'd recommend buying them separate. Some of the better quality rods and reels are as following
(I'm sure there are others, but here are a couple I can think of right now)
Reels:
Shimano
Pflueger
Okuma
Abu Garcia
Rods:
St. Croix
G.Loomis (Expensive)
Abu Garcia
Shakespeare (Blue Collar rod)
I'd hit up Cabelas, Bass Pro, Sportsman's Warehouse, etc.
