Honestly, I believe it helps in the olympic sports most...
Which to me is fine. I think as the school increases its dominance in other sports by recruiting better players then it will help rise the tide. Imagine if BYU was regularly making runs in the baseball, tennis, volleyball, soccer, track, ... eventually other conferences have to take notice of you.
