Get over it! The firesides are not mandatory. They are however a great tool
for the Church and school - if you care about such things. The firesides allow members and non-members to get to know the players and coaches in a more personal way (football and spiritually). Non-member players have felt the Spirit and will continue to feel the spirit when in attendance.

As we travel to the away games, we love attending the firesides as do those who fill the chapels and over-flow areas.

As a former athlete, I can tell you I hated the nights before games - sitting in a hotel or hotel room - it was boring. I finally asked the organization I played for if I could do religious service the nights before games and they said yes. I would do splits with the missionaries and loved it!!!!!!

Game day morning came around with pre-game meetings. While my teammates were tired and bored, I felt refreshed and prepared.
