The fact that you have to ask this question is startling. First, no one ever
has tried to ice a PAT (until our guy did it -- twice). Second, 45 seconds, if you take the ball at the 25 with no time off the clock on the kick-off, gives you about 5 to 7 plays to get 40 yards to get a FG attempt, or an average of 7 yards per play, pretty easy in a high scoring affair. Regardless of what actually happened or play calling because we had only one time out, has nothing to do with the pure lack of football knowledge or game management that was evidenced in foresight.

Call me when someone else in all of D1 football or the NFL uses timeouts in a similar situation to ice a PAT when the score would be tied and there are 45 seconds left. You will never see this again in football at this level, ever. How can anyone defend this decision, twice is beyond me.

The results of the drive have nothing to do with the boneheaded decision.
