my guess is the BigXII was getting behind the scenes pressure
from the other conferences as the BigXII pushed for a CCG with only 10. The other conferences didn't like it and wanted to blocked a BugXII CCG with only 10 members.
By pressuring behind the scenes the other conferences didn't have to drag this out within the media.
