Do the players party today? I'm sure some do. Some go to Vegas and end up on national news for holding a beer. It's a different world...and players know that too.

Lavell himself said he discouraged missions until Spencer W. Kimball said every young man should serve a mission. Lavell was a wonderful man, a hall of fame coach, and a great mentor...but he had it so, so much easier than Bronco.

All of you Bronco haters...I hate to think how much you would excoriate Lavell now that you have message boards and Twitter and Facebook...

He only had to deal with one nut job at a time on the KSL post game show. In today's world...all of the nut jobs have multiple platforms on which to demonstrate their frothing insanity. I'm not sure Lavell would have enjoyed coaching much in today's world. Frankly, he was too good a man. I'm glad he didn't have to put up with the lunatics.
