I'm not saying that Gonzaga has not had success. We are talking about recruiting
When it comes to recruiting, Gonzaga gets buried by the pac 12 schools, UNLV and SDSU. They typically lose recruits to Fresno and New Mexico as well.
When it comes to exposure in their home markets (outside Spokane), the WCC teams are completely ignored. If you think I am kidding, here is a link to the SF Chronicle web page on college sports. See how long you have to scroll before a story about one of the four local WCC teams shows up. Notice how many women's and high school stories show up before a single WCC story. And this is the primary news website for an area that covers four WCC universities.

Outside of BYU and Gonzaga, there is just minimal exposure for the WCC…even in their home markets. HS kids see this and it impacts their decisions.
