As a faculty member it is so much easier to get funding to hire students than at other universities. We are so blessed with being able to get students involved in research.
Actually in general the students are a huge positive. As a faculty member you can do with BYU undergrads what you would do with grad students elsewhere.
The benefits are also great... Health, retirement, and family oriented activities. For example, kids can use the pool and gym for free. Tuition benefits for spouse and kids. Free kids concerts. Wellness health rewards program is great.
Salary in my area is above average and you get raises.... Unheard of at state institutions.
Con's.... You have to shave. If you lose your TR, you lose your job. That's about it for me. There is sometimes politics but no worse than anywhere else.
