On the subject of intramurals, my sorta funny experience with intramurals
I graduated from BYU and got married and moved to Orem. I was invited to play on an intramural basketball team and even though I was no longer in a BYU ward I didn't think it would be a big deal. I had just moved out of my old ward and figured my records wouldn't have updated yet. A couple weeks into the season, I got an email saying I couldn't play because I wasn't in a BYU ward anymore so my season was over.

In our next game, one of my friends was going to be gone so I borrowed his ID to check in as him and play in the game. We figured they usually are too busy inspecting your face for stubble to actually inspect your picture ID and make sure it is the right person. When we got there I realized the person in charge of checking us in was a girl that was in the ward that I had just moved out of. I didn't know her too well, but we had talked a few times and I knew that she would recognize me. Also, along with her was a manager or someone over her that was observing everything going on.

I walk up to check in and decide I will just get her to play along and hope she is cool with me playing with someone else's ID. I walk up and say my name is Quinn Johnson (my friend's name) She looks puzzled and said something like "Oh I thought your name was Boorad, aren't you in my ward?"

Immediately, I say "No I'm Quinn, but you must know my twin brother Boorad. Are you in his ward or something?" I am saying this with a smile trying hoping that she will see what is happening and play along in front of her boss.

She doesn't and says, "Oh that is so crazy I didn't know he had a twin brother... I am in his ward and I thought you were him but he got married and moved out."

At this point it is clear that she is not picking up on what I am trying to do and is totally buying this dumb twin story. I should mention this girl was very blonde and very ditzy. My friend and I don't have the same last name and yet she believes that we are twins.

So I go on for about a minute explaining how we are twins but we try to live in different places and have our own group of friends rather than be around each other all the time. She said that made a lot of sense and commended our sense of individuality.

The funniest part of this story was I found out a little later from a friend in the ward that this girl had a crush on me. I was dating my wife at the time who was also in the ward and so we never talked much. My buddies on the team told me that at our next game she walked in and was hanging out for a bit even though she wasn't working, presumably to see if my single twin brother was playing again.
