This is the main reason why Tom was pushing so hard to get basketball their own facility- They constantly were fighting to get a practice spot locked down. They didn't like using the MC because everything (Trainers, etc.) was in the fieldhouse. With the new facility, some things will be up there so it'll be easier.

There are plenty of stories of teams being forced to move or cancel practices because of classes, studio C wanting to film, or the annual pow wow needing the facility. It shouldn't be that way, especially with the publicity that athletics bring to the university. This is why most big schools have student wellness centers that include basketball courts, health centers, football/intramural fields, pools, etc. They're usually the older athletic facilities.

Tom probably has one of the hardest jobs- it isn't easy working with academic BYU if you are part of BYU athletics. They almost go out of their way to make it harder on them.
