be able to help. He needs to dominate the ball. He had been so good at scoring, and outside shooting that it opened up his drive. He was so good at driving in and getting contact, that it lead to double teams. When he would get doubled, he would pass to wide open team mates to make shots.
This would continually happen. Jimmer gets balls. Jimmer shoots ball. Jimmer gets ball, Jimmer drives makes layup. Jimmer gets ball, Jimmer drives gets doubled, (or tripled) and Jimmer passes ball to open player. Jimmer almost never would run off a screen and then catch and shoot. That is exactly what NBA teams wanted from him. They thought he could come off screens and shoot the ball. In the NBA, NBA athletes can guard him with single coverage. His shot is slow because he shoots at the top of his release.
Jimmer is a great athlete. (Slightly below average compared to other NBA athletes) I think if he devoted all his time to defense he could get much better. He is never going to be tops in the league. But he could be as good as steve nash...(on defense)
There are so many variables at play when it comes to the NBA. I will also think Jimmer could be like Jason Terry, if he was given the shot. I bet it is really hard to know what to train for, for him. What does he work on all summer? Should he work on his point guard skillls? (Dribbling, Passing, Footwork) Should he work on being a 2 guard?(think small J.J reddick) Should he just spend all time on defense?
Imagine if Jimmer had the chance Jeremy Linn was given.....I wonder how many more chances he will get. It will be interesting to see who he signs with next. Maybe he ought to think about going to China. Imagine if you had Jimmermania there. Stephon Marbury has sure created a good career there.
