I did grow up in Utah and lived in and played for Layton my sophomore year, when Jim McMahon was a senior at Roy. I got to know him as my friends big brother would race his Camaro against Jim's Dodge and then we would BS for a bit and sometimes drink a beer if we could get some.

I started following BYU religiously when McMahon went there from that connection. At first I loved them for their style or play. From there it just evolved and as I matured and got into coaching, I came to realize what the true value of the program was and is today, which just cemented my loyalty.
