Certainly possible.
If it was off all night and still wouldn't cool in the morning, it's definitely not due to a frozen coil.

It's also possible you have a refrigerant leak and are low on refrigerant.

A/C wise, your indoor unit has a coil and a fan. The indoor coil has no moving parts, so the only thing that can happen with it is a potential leak. If the fan is running and you feel air coming out the vents, that pretty much means everything indoors is working fine.

Gonna need more info before we can diagnose what might be going on with the outdoor unit.
