Average for all ranks is 75K. That means newer professors are making less, probably around 55K.

It is absolutely true that salary goes up the more research you have to do. Somewhere like BYU-I will make less than Research 1.

It could be that the people RC Vikings knows are administrators (on 12 month contracts instead of 9 month contracts, so paid more), or are doing consulting on the side. It's harder to do consulting if you aren't at a research university, but maybe they are figuring out how to do it.

Or maybe they are teaching extra on the side online as a teaching overload contract.
