Honestly, I think Bronco's conflict stems from the fact that he sees his job
at least in part as a calling. Have you ever heard him relate his experience in interviewing with President Henry B. Eyring? It is pretty interesting, even inspiring. I heard Bronco tell the story at a fireside when BYU played at Arizona, 2006. When President Eyring was finished interviewing Bronco, he reportedly said (after staring into his eyes deeply, sitting so close their knees were touching): "You are the man." There is no doubt in my mind, from the way Bronco tells that story, that President Eyring made an inspired choice. That's all I can say about that. From that experience, I just get the feeling Bronco feels somewhat compelled to stay - and perhaps at times resents the fact that he has to put up with fans who are not always happy with him.

One thing Bronco said in the interview from 1280 is that he wishes he could give the fans more full disclosure so people would know more about why he does what he does, says what he says, and reasoning behind decisions. That would make his life a little easier, it seems. But, Bronco has to live with the world he is in - which includes great pressure from media, social media, et al. I have no doubt his job is ridiculously difficult. His every move/word is scrutinized. I get it. I just think it has taken Bronco a long time to get a handle on how to deal with it - how to interact with the fans in a way that embraces them (instead of calling them out as "uneducated" or as "Pharisees" etc.).
