a few things
Charles called police. While I think this can be viewed in his favor, so to speak, its also consistent with the victim's version of events which is that, after raping her, her pimp was going to try and beat his butt.

Still outside. Yes, she and her pimp were going to exact revenge (or payment).

Surprised by police. I'm sure they were. And yes, if they knew police were coming they would likely have been gone (especially the pimp). While occasionally prostitutes will report being raped to police, its very rare. Unfortunately, being threatened with a gun or knife and then being raped happens too frequently. Almost a cost of doing business.

They concocted a story to cover their own actions. What actions?
West admits he arranged for her to come to his house to satisfy his sexual fetish. Admits he didn't actually have the money to pay her (he claims he was going to steal the money from his brother to pay her after the sex, lol). He wanted the sex first (right, for a guy who has experience hiring prostitutes, this is another lol). They argued about it. She says he then pulled a knife and raped her. He says, what? She pulled her own knife when he wouldn't produce the money he says he was going to steal from his brother to pay her?

What I found odd was West's claim that while he didn't have the money to pay the hooker, he wasn't trying to cheat her, he was just going to steal from his brother, not the hooker.
And that the hooker had injuries consistent with being assaulted with a knife.
And that the said location of the rape was consistent with the victim's statement.
And that she was able to describe the knife found in his kitchen when he claimed not to have used a knife.

Just a few of my own thoughts on what I found odd. Of course, as I posted previously, even if the "victim" is telling the truth, the odds that she (even if she is a local) is going to cooperate has always been slight. She would have been unlikely to call police in the first instance.

But perhaps its time to welcome the young man to BYU. I sincerely hope the young man can turn his life his around.

Oh, and good luck with that shooting thing.
