I'm no expert, but it seems that it is not so different from traditional ads.
I can't say that I've ever bought anything because I saw an ad and thought, hmm I think I want to buy that.

It's usually at the point when I have to buy something that I start to remember ads I've seen and am more likely to look into those brands than ones I've never heard of.
