...nobody was confident that the Big 12 would survive after TAMU and Mizzou went to the SEC, Colorado went to the Pac and Nebraska left for the B1G. It was on very shaky grounds and other conferences were getting raided at the same time (Big East and ACC). BYU was trying to be safe and prudent. Makes sense.
