The Big Ten is the mirror image of the Pac 12
Thus, BYU will never appear on their radar.
Academics are important, just as it is with the Pac 12.
Plus, the Big Ten is anything but anxious to acquire a West Virginia of their own, a team so far away from the rest of the conference it may as well be the moon. The Big 12s experiment with WVU is now a cautionary tale for the other conference.
