. . . that were beside the point of the coaches' recruiting ability. Heaps was definitely an incredible recruiting win. A coaching, development, and personnel failure mixed with some destructive off-field drama that had nothing to do with the program, but a recruiting win.

And I guess it has to be repeated, but the two Elite 11 MVP awards are not the same. Heaps beat a bunch of scrubs for his. Mangum tied a Heisman-winning #1 overall draft pick.
