because of those reasons they should have different reasons for deciding to not be a fan anymore. If your motivation for being a fan is based on spending time with family then you will probably stop being a fan when the family no longer has interest (or you develop another reason for interest). If your interest is based off of talking smack to other fans of different teams then you will probably stop being a fan when you can no longer run smack by coworkers/friends/etc. Maybe you are a fan because you enjoy watching the growth of the boys in the program. You will then stop being a fan when you feel that growth has stopped.

Nobody is expecting you to donate a million dollars and nobody is denying you the ability to be a fan if you only watch one game a year. If you don't like how the program is run then try to change it, stop rooting for the team, or a little of both.
