The one HUGE factor that exists now that did not exist before is these TV contracts were just looking for new markets. Now these contracts are coming back to reality and the they are overvalued. Now the conferences need to look at what schools actually bring in monetarily. The idea to get a school out of a "big market network" is not going to work this time around. There are hundreds of tweets and articles in this PHASE stating that BYU is the only school left that can come in and financially not weigh down a conference.
Expansion has always been about money, this time it is different though. The conferences need to do more than just add schools to get to a magic number. They need the school to bring something beneficial and even with the talked about "baggage", we bring benefits. As how I look at it, we bring money and a fan base, UCF brings the a huge recruiting hot bed. Cinci brings nothing.
The last three years of expansion has turned me into a pessimist but I really do like our chances this time around.
