injuries that were experienced last season. So the combination of more 3 and outs by the walking wounded offense and the quick turn around back on the field by the wounded defense, added up to disaster.

It was pointed out by Ben Criddle, Dick Harman, and others that BYU's defense was riddle with injuries. The D-line had numerous sprained ankles thus impacting their ability to place pressure on the QB. Other positions were also struggling with injuries. Howell had to go down the bench to see who was healthy enough to be placed into the game.

Based off of those who were closer to the team, injuries played a large part on both sides.
