Yeah, our very own Prophet and his family face some tough questions for sure.
Keep in mind that I was observing a trend, having grown up in SLC and lived there until just a few years ago, of a growing population (not all--just a very vocal minority that is growing) of U fans becoming focusing more and more on their hatred for the church and becoming more and more sleezy in how they do it, that seems to be getting worse and worse. What was once a good-nature rivalry has become nasty and unconscionable (ala examples shared in earlier posts). It has gotten much worse and is trending to become even more so. So I was suggesting, (hopefully tic in my reference to the question I quoted) that at some point, people with conscience will start to feel uncomfortable with what their institution stands for. Not next week, but over time if things continue to trend the way they seem to be. I wasn't implying that anyone who ever attended the U or even attends or roots for it now are going to hell or should lose a recommend.

In regards to prophets attending the U in the past--I think I addressed that above. It has nothing to do with my observation. But if you want to get technical and have fun with your comment about the Prophet, all i know is that for the many years that I sat in the Presidents box at LES President Monson, was usually there ... rooting for BYU, yes even when they played the U. I heard from President Hinckley's own lips, though he attended the U, when BYU was losing to the U, "BYU needs to get it together". The "U" is not what it was. Even the Kirtland temple, though an amazing and holy place was overrun by haters, leaving it desecrated and it no longer carries the glory it once did. That reference is a joke (just in case someone takes it too seriously is looking to be offended by the comparison). So I'm not going to go point-by-point back and forth with people on this. If you are of a mind to disagree you'll hate what I'm saying. If you read and think about what I'm communicating then you may see what I'm trying to say. This isn't a legal treatise and I'm not trying to win an argument. Just making an observation as it came to me.

And by the way, for those who say "THIS IS WHY UTAH HATES BYU!" If you check I didn't post this on their board or write an editorial in the Trib. I highly doubt anything I write or say will change anybody's opinion one way or another. Just making an observation on a BYU board. And besides, I don't really give a crap at this point.
