I don't remember all the teams in the league. I remember having to play in Sandpoint. I believe Sandpoint beat Rypien's team in the championship. We made the semis but lost to Sandpoint. That was a crazy league. Kids from high school that had played for those teams just a few years before would come back to watch. Some of the crowds were fairly large. And yes, it was full contact. I don't remember being any weight restrictions. There were some HUGE kids. Man, I can still remember a full speed head on between my son and the kick returner on a kick off. My son had to have been giving up 50 lbs. The hit just blew my son up with the runner also going down. FWIW (not much), it prevented a TD. My son was woozy after that and I wonder if he had a concussion. He had some nice pass break ups though on Rypien that he still likes to tell stories about.

My son had a great time playing QB for his 8th grade team. His coaches ran a pro style offense and he threw the ball 50% of the time and was very accurate with a strong arm. Those were fun times.

My son's football career ended his freshman year. After just two weeks of practice in pads, they had a full contact scrimmage against CDA at the end of the summer. The OL had no idea what they were doing and the end was coming free off the left side and blasting my son in the back every time he threw it. Amazingly, he went 3-5 for 50 yards before he went to the sideline with a concussion. Those ended up being his career stats. My son was vomiting that night and I asked, "is this what you want to do?" He said, "Nope." So he just played basketball and tennis after that. The line never got fixed. The new #1 QB broke his forearm the first game on a hit that drove him into the ground. #2 broke his collarbone the next game on a similar hit. And near the end of the season, #3 broke his lower leg on a low hit. The freshman coaches should have been fired.
