those that don't, Didn't.
Nothing shocking here.
That said, he had a couple of fine points mixed in with a lot of self-aggrandizing garbage. So, basically, just like most posts and threads on CB.
For me, I love me some cb, as a fan page and a place to come vent. Fandom for me is all about outrageous extremes: expectations, hopes, dreams, fits of anger, bouts of bipolarism, exultation, unwarranted criticisms, warranted criticisms, communal praise... It's all part of the experience.
For me. And I suspect many others. But probably not all.
And that's the point, I guess. Fandom is such a personal thing. Trying to fit someone into and outside of your particular fan box is juvenile. To take your own fandom so seriously that you heap your heavy soul up on the rameumptom of a cb post and solemnly chastise those around you who aren't as "good" a fan as you are, who weren't blessed to be so positive or blue-goggled as you are, and then thank the football gods that you are of the chosen: those who will sit reverently in their stadium seats, clap politely, and nod their "amens" when the coach announces that the team has had a "successful season," well.... That's even more juvenile. (And yes, I see that I'm making a judgmental post about being too judgmental; apologies to the logicians in the room).
I have no problem with fans of BC's ilk. I'm actually very glad our fan base is as supportive and good natured as we are. However, I do take umbrage at the notion that dialogue and criticism ought to be shut down if it doesn't fit someone's criteria for positivity or neatly within their fan-appropriate list.
If there can't be a marketplace of ideas and a relatively safe place to simply engage in sports talk on a dedicated fan page, where else can we have it?
