Good post...
1. The offense should be at least as good as last year.
I believe this... this real question in my mind is how much has improved is Taysom as a passing QB...

This will be the best O-line in at least 4 years.
This is just too easy a shot to take, but it would be hard to be worse. Last year was just sad.

If TH4 stays healthy anything's possible.
If Taysom really has become an elite passing QB, reads defenses well, gets through progressions quickly, adds in some savy (pump fakes, looking off DBs), and can make all the throws (fade, backshoulder, arcing deep passes so his receivers run underneath them, crossing patterns), combined with all his run skills... that's a lot to ask, but if he has become that kind of QB, I believe he has enough talent around him that he could lead BYU to an undefeated season.

That, Having Jamaal out stings but Algie and Hine are both capable replacements if they stay healthy.
I disagree, I like Algie and Adam but they are a big step down from JW.

2. The defense should be much better. I think they will still struggle at times but I don't think they will be giving away games like they did last year. The main thing is that I don't think we'll have to score 40+ in every single game just to feel like we have a chance. Another thing that I think this year that I didn't think last year is that the defense will be good enough to keep us in almost every game.
It would be hard for the defense to be as bad as last year... I would assume Bronco is gone if our defense does a repeat of last year. They have a lot to prove this year. I really like Bronco being back running the defense, but I think it's a lot to expect a ton of improvement given the reality that we have mostly the same talent we had last year. I believe they will be better, but realistically I don't believe they will be lightyears better. This year may be like old-school BYU where we just have to outscore teams.

him credit for is that each year he seems to try to make adjustments to learn from last year's mistakes.
A lot of people have soured on Bronco the past few seasons. I like him. I personally think he's a terrific coach, but I do feel he has a few blindspots. I'm not going to give a coach a ton of credit for adjusting year to year... that's the job. What I want to see is better game-to-game adjustments and in-game adustments.

I would love to see him do really well this year; prove that he is adaptable and willing to change what's not working. And not have any sacred cows.
I would too. It's time for him to get it done. He really set the expectation (and I think rightfully so) that BYU should have a special season every few years. BYU hasn't had that for a while... he's due.

This is the most important year for BYU since going Independent. If they win 9+ games they will change a lot of minds about the state of the program and the viability of Independence as a whole.
I don't think it's about viability as an independent, it's about viability as a program, swaying perceptions nationally about if BYU is still relevant (long gone are the days where BYU opened every season in the top 25), and it's about solidifying our case to join a P5 conference. However I think BYU needs to win at least 10 games to do that. 9 is okay, but 10 or better would accomplish the main things we want, even better, and we could have more than 1 offer to join a conference.
